Halloween Weekend

Eyes in my teeth I can’t see cause I’m eating / Head full of noise I can’t think cause it’s crushing

12:25PM.
Great googly moogly, I’m exhausted. Last night Rich and I attended Jonathan and Curry’s annual Halloween movie horrorfest. Jonathan managed to scare the sh!t out of me when I first got there. After knocking on the front door, I looked to my left and there was Jason Voorhees at the end of the porch. Keep in mind, Jonathan’s like 6’4″, so add a hockey mask, blue workshirt, and machete-type knife to the mix, and it’s very creepy. I yelled something (“Oh, Jesus!”) in surprise and realized a second after yelling who it was. Once inside the house, I was greeted by Mrs. Voorhees (Curry in a blonde wig and sweater). Very creepy.

Tamara was already there and Finley soon came back from the video store empty handed; he’d gone in the hopes of renting “Saw” or “Friday the 13th.” We started eating the delicious chili Curry made and waited for Brent to arrive since he was bringing his DVD of “Halloween,” which we wanted to watch first. I’d grabbed every horror movie DVD Rich and I own and taken them over since I wasn’t sure what Jonathan and Curry had or what movies others might bring. Rich made it through “Halloween” and the first five minutes of the craptacular “Last Slumber Party” (thanks again, Brent) before heading home since he wasn’t feeling well. By now Melissa, Brent’s sister, had arrived along with a friend of hers. We cut “Last Slumber Party” short (preventing a mass suicide) and put “The Grudge” on next. I sat next to Brent during this one; Tamara had almost clocked me in the head with her elbow during “Halloween” and scared me away. She gets really, really into movies. We had fun laughing at Tamara jumping during the scary parts since she hadn’t yet seen “The Grudge,” whereas the rest of us all had. Benjamin came over in time to catch the last third or so of the movie. “The Fog” was next, during which Brent kept pleading for someone to get killed and Finley made one too many jokes about flannel. Of course, watching “The Fog” with a group only served to remind me how much scarier this movie was when I was a little kid. Benjamin, Melissa, and Melissa’s friend left before our last movie of the night, “Darkness Falls,” which scared us silly. It’s short and to the point, just like a horror movie should be.

It was almost 3AM when we finished “Darkness Falls” and crawled off to sleep. Finley went home, Tamara and I shared the bed in the guest room (“Scandalous” according to Jonathan), and Brent crashed in the bonus room. Tamara woke up and left around 9:30AM and I left for home around 10AM. I didn’t do much once I got home and ended up laying down for a nap. Now I’m up, trying to stay awake so I can meet my parents for dinner as planned and then attend Justin and Shauen’s Halloween party up the street.

Tomorrow a few of us are going to watch “Beetlejuice” at the Tennessee Theater. Should be fun. This is probably the busiest Halloween weekend I’ve had in years.
