Song Lyric of the Day:

Our house, is a very, very, very fine house

Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young / “Our House”

I set a personal record today in that I made four trips to Home Depot. Why, you ask? Because the contractor who is going to do our eventual kitchen remodel came over to do odd jobs around the house. Why did he do odd jobs around our house? Because he and Rich have worked out a barter: Rich is creating a website for our contractor free of cost, and we pay only for supplies for work done–no labor. Sweet, huh? The best part is the contractor really knows what he’s doing and has excellent references. Today alone he and his assistant did a ton of electrical and plumbing work that we desperately needed and wanted done, including installing our kicky new red ceiling fan in the office, complete with overhead light. Today I also learned all about single pole, double pole, and triple pole switches; single gang, double gang, and triple gang remodel boxes; sink turn valves; and that the pedestal of a pedestal sink is for purely cosmetic reasons (to conceal the piping), not to hold up the sink basin. Our contractor, his assistant, and I also discovered that the original builders and/or owners of this house let their weird glue fetish extend to the PVC piping for said pedestal sink. Sickos.

Busy TV night tonight. Tivo is working overtime, recording Supernatural and Scrubs at 9PM, followed by Love Monkey at 10PM. Tomorrow I really need to get back to my roots and post some mid-season reviews. Before I jump off tonight, though, let me ask you to please, please, PLEASE tune in to the season–and likely series–finale of Arrested Development on Friday night. Fox is airing the last four episodes in a two-hour block starting at 8PM. As the show’s narrator, Ron Howard, says, “Please, tell your friends.”
