My laptop keyboard was seemingly malfunctioning. Turns out somehow the number lock function got activated, so anything I tried typing using the right side of the keyboard came up as, you guessed it, numbers. I googledSony Vaio keyboard” and came across this handy site that helped me figure out and resolve the problem. I can now write in the comfort of my own home again.

Rich and I had a fun, busy, social weekend. Friday night we met up with the old bookstore crew at Kelly’s Tavern in honor of our friend, Brenda, a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army who has been stationed in Qatar since October. It was really great seeing her, and it meant a lot to all of us that she made time during her leave to see us. It’s also good knowing that she is in a relatively safe zone, compared with the alternatives. We had fun hanging out and catching up with everyone. Karl had us laughing with his views on his impending fatherhood, Collin was looking happy, Debbie was happy with her beau, Ryan’s engaged, Jackie’s in a long-distance relationship, and Ray is working at the airport. And Sharon was even nice enough to share her chicken planks platter with Rich and me. And now that I have updated, correct emails for a few people, staying in touch should be a bit easier.

Saturday morning Rich and I spent a few hours at Hall Nissan getting my Xterra looked at. It developed an oil leak late Friday night and was bone-dry by Saturday morning. I can’t say enough about how great the service manager, Todd, was about getting every available technician he had working on my car within minutes of me telling him what the problem was. I drove home happy and with restored peace of mind. Todd will be getting a handwritten thank you note from me to show our appreciation for a job well done. After leaving Nissan, we went to Sports Authority to price some weights and buy me mace (again, I don’t work in the safest of neighborhoods). Then Rich indulged me and we went to Quizno’s for lunch, where I had my favorite sandwich, the Classic Italian. Actually, it’s the only sandwich I ever get there.

Saturday night we went to our friends Chris and Amy’s house for dinner with them and Matt. Amy served a delicious meal of chicken and beef fajitas, and after dinner we set out to go bowling. Upon finding out that the bowling alley had an hour-plus wait for an available lane, we drove to the nearby movie theater. After some coaxing, the guys agreed to see “Hitch.” We all really enjoyed the movie; I’ll post a review later.

We slept in Sunday morning and then Joan came over to watch a few episodes of “Sex and the City.” Once again, Caleb broke his mommy’s heart by snuggling up next to Joan and napping with his head in her lap, leaving me with the a$$ end of my baby dog. As usual.
