Monday Nights Are for Getting Arrested and Going to Prison

Song Lyric of the Day:

And I still find it so hard / To say what I need to say / But I’m quite sure that you’ll tell me / Just how I should feel today

Orgy / “Blue Monday”

10:24PM.
Today was another fairly productive day for me. I spent most of the morning spackling and sanding and spackling and sanding the walls in the half bathroom. Dry and ready to paint over in 15 minutes my butt; it seemed like an eternity before it finally dried. Rich removed the pedestal sink Sunday night and, like many other things in our house, discovered that it had been glued to the wall. Talk about damaging. So that’s where my primary focus was on–trying to smooth that patch of wall out as much as possible. I removed the toilet tank myself, making a bit of a mess despite it having been drained almost completely dry. I did remember to put on pants before taking it outside to the trash since I didn’t want to be caught pantsless with a hideous goldenrod-colored toilet tank in my arms. I finished the second coat on one wall and painted the first coat on the two remaining walls; the fourth wall is wood and doesn’t need to be painted–we live in an A-frame, remember.

I also had lunch with Mom, checked out a possible match for our china cabinet at Haverty’s, and swung by Wal-Mart to pick up more car cleaning supplies. Rich’s nice, new car only emphasized how filthy the Xterra was, so I spent a few hours detailing it yesterday. Shauen came over before I’d finished to use one of our computers, and I ended up showing her pics from my two trips to Las Vegas. She’s going to Las Vegas soon for work (lucky!) and wanted some ideas on things to do. By the time she left and I finished cleaning the car, it was dark. So today I finished touching up spots I missed and replaced my blown brake light bulb.

I unwound this evening by watching two of my favorite shows, Arrested Development and Prison Break. Fox ran two episodes of AD back to back. The first, “Notapusy,” was hilarious (loved the rival Startled Straight tents), but the second episode, “Mr. F,” really hit it out of the park. Godzilla references left and right, a literal and figurative mole problem, and a surprise glimpse of Annyong had Rich and I rolling. Ah, how I love this show. Check out this interview with Tony Hale (Buster Bluth) on TVGuide.com’s site. It reminds me why he’s my favorite character on AD.

Prison Break was excellent, as well. I think the show keeps getting better each week. The pace has picked up for the people both inside and outside the prison, and the conspiracy behind Lincoln’s framing is turning out to reach further than we could’ve anticipated. (Check out what Patricia Wettig has to say about playing the evil Vice President). I’m really hoping the powers that be at Fox see the light and decide not to wait until May to air the remaining nine episodes for the season (the fall finale is on November 28). I won’t name names, but there are a few shows that wouldn’t be missed if they were to be crossed off the schedule. That’s all I’m saying.
