Song Lyric of the Day:

And you say he’s just a friend, oh baby / You, you got what I need but you say he’s just a friend / But you say he’s just a friend, oh baby

Biz Markie / “Just a Friend”

1:12PM.
First thing this morning, Mom called me to ask if I’d spoken with my Aunt Bea since she had some news for me. “Is it good or bad?,” I asked. “I don’t know,” Mom replied. Okayyyyy. I called Bea’s cell phone and left her a voicemail message. Then Samantha called. “Have you talked to Bea? She has something she wants to tell you.” “Do you know what it is?” “No. Just call her.” Okayyyyy.

While on the phone with Samantha a voicemail notification popped up. Yep, I had just missed a call from Aunt Bea. She leaves me a detailed message that she and her boyfriend, Louis, are getting married next year. I play the message again on speakerphone so Rich can hear and then call her back, finally getting a hold of her. She sounds thrilled, and Rich and I are very happy for her. The wedding will likely take place the weekend after Mother’s Day in May, which excites me to no end since it will be the first time I’ve been in New York City during warm weather since 1991.

Speaking of, Bea asked if Rich and I were still planning on staying with her over New Year’s Eve. I told her that since we hadn’t heard back from her we were starting to make other plans. It turns out she had my old Virginia cell phone number, so our wires crossed. So now I’m going to spend hours on end looking for good airfare rates and hope to find a great deal. Because I would really, really love to spend this New Year’s Eve in Times Square and watch the ball drop. How cool would that be?

Congrats again to my awesome aunt and her betrothed. They’re a terrific couple, and I’m so happy for them.
