Christmas Parties Are Upon Us

Christmas Song Lyric of the Day:

Come, they told me, pa rum pa pum pum / A newborn king to see, pa rum pa pum pum / Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pa pum pum / To lay before the king, pa rum pa pum pum

The party was a lot of fun last night. I had already met Rich’s coworkers during quick visits t
o his office, but last night I actually got to really talk to them and meet their wives, too. Rich and I arrived at Cherokee Country Club early, which ended up being the same time as two other couples, including the boss and his wife. The club was beautiful–as soon as Rich and I walked in we were like, “So this is how they live.” People arrived steadily for the next half hour or so, and we all stood around talking for a while before dinner was announced. I particularly enjoyed talking to Mark since he is a fellow Simpsons fanatic–I finally found someone willing to play Simpsons trivia with me! (And, yes, Sanjay, you’re overestimating your abilities. Ha ha!)

Rich and I, along with everyone else, ate far more than is considered healthy. But, boy, everything was delicious. I had filet mignon for my main course and followed it up with a peanut butter cheesecake. We sat around trading stories for a while before everyone called it a night. All told, we were there for over three hours. I’m glad I got to meet the work gang outside the office; they really are a great bunch of guys. I can see why Rich enjoys going in to work so much. Not only does he get to stretch his creative muscles and learn new things, but he works with nice people. Which, as we all know, can make all the difference in the world.
