My 12 Days of Christmas

Christmas Song Lyric of the Day:

Well he lives up in a mountain / Like a hermit in the cave / He never had a haircut / He never took a shave / The boogie woogie Santa Claus

I’ve decided that for the 12 days leading up to Christmas I’m going to feature a Christmas Song Lyric of the Day. Before you say anything, I’m aware that the actual 12 days of Christmas begin on Christmas day and end on January 5. However, for my intents and purposes, they start today.

Winter seems to be here to stay in East Tennessee. While I was running a couple of errands earlier it was even flurrying. I can’t believe Christmas is 12 days away. I’ve made good headway on my Christmas shopping but I need to hurry up and finish. This year I’m going with more personal gifts, created specially by me. Hopefully the recipients will appreciate them.

Rich and I finished trimming the tree last night. Our ornaments are a mix of Hallmark collectibles (primarily Disney and Star Wars); heirloom ornaments; and simple purple, silver, frosted, and clear glass balls. I am sorry to report that our talking Darth Vader ornament is currently out of commission since his head popped off; it so happens that the ornament hook ring is located on said disembodied head. As soon as I find our bottle of Gorilla Glue, Darth is getting fixed and going up on the tree.

I’m really looking forward to my first Christmas at home in five years, to be followed by my first-ever New Year’s Eve in Times Square. So those are two of my Christmas wishes come true. What are your Christmas wishes this year?

Dear Santa,

Please bring me a new laptop battery for Christmas. Both the batteries in my laptop are fried. If I move the laptop even a half-inch, the power profile changes. Thanks a bunch.

Pattie

P.S.–That would be for a Sony Vaio model PCG-991L (PCG-FX390P).

Just came across a short film, The Confession, starring none other than my FSH, Wentworth Miller, over at Atom Films. The beginning of the film doesn’t add much to the story, that of a woman going to have a conjugal visit with her jailed husband. While there, Tom, her soldier husband, confesses to her how he tortured a prisoner and how he would do it again. His wife tries to tell him that that’s not who he is, but he pushes her away. Josie Maran stars as the wife, which is basically a throwaway role, although it does allow her to have some steamy scenes in the beginning of the film where she envisions what the visit will be like. Tom could literally have phoned in his confession to her, but the face-to-face interaction allows Went to let loose in a way he couldn’t really have done effectively over the phone–the best thing about the short is Went’s performance. I also find it very interesting that he is playing yet another prisoner; I wonder if this was written with him specifically in mind or he just happened to get cast in it. As for the technical aspects of the film, the sound really needs to be remixed–the dialogue is almost impossible to hear at times. The score and sound effects are the most audible things throughout. Interesting little short, though.

Its the ghost of Christmas past who lingers in High School French Classes and now defunct theater concession stands.

Does a heartfelt apology from a weary 31 year old help undo the hurt caused by a cocky 22 year old?

Gimme a shout, my emails in my woefully outdated blog profile…

Hey, Sanjay! I’ve been thinking about you lately, being back in Knoxville and all. Where are you at? I checked your blog link, but it said “page not found.”

If you want to post your email address, I’ll copy it in my address book and then yank the comment down so you won’t get spammed.

    Talk to you soon.

I’ve been thinking about you and Dan and Leslie for years but never got the courage to step up to the plate. I did call Dan months ago and we were supposed to reconnect. But then I got shipped to South Korea for a month… Anyway we got a lot of catching up to do. Unfortunately my blog isn’t as up to date as yours!

BTW Being that your such a PB fan, did you ever catch Dom in John Doe a few years back?
