Partying with Gamers and Shopping with Jonnie

Song Lyric of the Day:

Am I wrong? / Have I run too far to get home? / Have I gone? / And left you here alone? / If I would, could you?

Alice in Chains / “Would?”

11:10PM.
Rich and I went to a Christmas party last night hosted by a couple in the gamers’ group Rich hangs out with. The party was all the way out in Talbott, TN, so it was a bit of a drive. They had plenty of good food waiting when we got there, though, so I was set for the night. I contributed spicy deviled eggs and a marble pistachio cake to the pickings. Seeing as how it was a party hosted by and for gamers, we played a few games while we were there. The first game we played was called “Pickomino,” which I stunk at. As bad as I was at it, I still did better than Rich, but barely. The next game was “Cloud 9.”
I ended up kicking butt at this one; I wouldn’t mind owning this game. I was so good at it, in fact, that once Rich decided to copy what I did, he ended up coming in second. The third game was “Cash ‘n Guns,” which is all about intimidation and bluffing. Having stolen my seat since he thought it was lucky, Rich won this game. Go figure. The last game we played, which I would really like to own, was “Eye 2 Eye.” I thought this was the most fun game we played, followed closely by “Cloud 9.” Rich and I ended up getting home after midnight, but it was worth it since I finally got to meet the gaming gang and get to know some really nice people. And I got to show my mad skills at “Cloud 9.”

Since Rich had a lot of freelance work to do today, I met up with Jonathan and Curry for lunch. After lunch, the Currinator went home, and Jonnie and I headed to the mall to do some Christmas shopping. I managed to pick up a few gifts while Jonnie “scoped things out” (read: didn’t buy anything). While at the mall, I picked three children off the Angel Tree so Rich and I can pick up gifts for them in the next few days. Jonnie and I hit a few stores in the mall, at which I bought nothing, and then headed west to a couple of other stores, at which I did buy some things. And tomorrow I will do some shopping online, since I found a couple of really good deals which I can’t get in the stores.

I drove Jonnie back to his house, and hung out a bit with him and his twin brother, Benjamin. I got home around 7PM, heated up some leftover beef stew for me and the hubby for dinner, then tidied up some while Rich did yet more freelance work. Which is why I’m going to try to make this Christmas a really nice one for him.
