The Waiting…

Song Lyric of the Day:

Some will win, some will lose / Some were born to sing the blues / Oh, the movie never ends / It goes on and on and on and on

Journey / “Don’t Stop Believin'”

4:45PM.
My interview went well on Tuesday. The only thing that might take me out of the running is the matter of what level clearance I have. So we’ll see. If I do get the job, it turns out I’d be working in a trailer on a construction site. Talk about a change of environment.

Let’s see. A lot’s happened since I updated last. My Friday night headshots did not come to pass since my body decided to rebel and gift me with a lovely cold sore on my lower lip (Hmmm…she actually needs to be photographed and look really good? I’ll show her. Ha ha!). I’m sure casting directors would be clamoring to cast the pale Puerto Rican woman with apparent leprosy. So I’m hoping Ash can shoot them for me this weekend. The sooner the headshots are in the hands of my agent, the sooner I can start going on auditions.

In addition to looking like a leper and coughing like I have TB (yes, I’m still sick), I’ve also had to deal with the untimely death of my beloved iPod Shuffle (R.I.P, February 2005-January 2006). I blamed it on an automatic software update, but who knows? Bottom line is, Apple‘s service kicks ass. I called them late yesterday afternoon about arranging the return of my dead Shuffle and their replacing it with a new Shuffle. I was told five to seven business days, which is the norm. Lo and behold, I opened my front door at about 10:30AM today and my new Shuffle had already been delivered. It’s charging right now, and best of all, it works. I can now resume my music-enhanced domestic hausfrau duties. And try to avoid being caught singing by Rich, which is always an extra-special kind of embarrassing.

Saturday afternoon I accompanied Samantha to The Foundry to scope out a possible wedding location. I had fun checking the place out with her, and I am thrilled to announce that she and Shawn have since booked it for their October wedding. I’m really happy that wedding plans are coming together nicely for both my sisters. I will, of course, accompany either sister to a catering or cake taste-testing any time, should they need a second opinion. I’m just saying.

Sunday afternoon I had lunch with my sister-in-law and afterward caught the movie Something New; I hadn’t really heard anything about the movie before then, but it turned out to be really enjoyable. I’d recommend it as a good date movie and a great chick flick. And let me just add, Simon Baker‘s character really makes me want to get the yard landscaped.

Monday I grabbed lunch with Jonnie at Ruby Tuesday, since we hadn’t eaten there in a while, and he and Curry decided Monday was their diet cheat day. Rich and I are going to have dinner over at their place tomorrow night, which will be fun. We’ve been meaning to trade off home-cooked dinners to encourage each other to eat healthier than we normally do. So Rich and I will have to plan something good for when we host Jonnie and Curry.

Now I’m going to equip myself with my new Shuffle and tackle the kitchen. Rich is cooking tonight and needs space to work. I’ve got my work cut out for me.

8:01PM.
Now that I once again have a working Shuffle, I’m burning a lot of our CDs into iTunes. Among those albums:

  • Tidal and When the Pawn… by Fiona Apple
  • Plans by Death Cab for Cutie
  • Disciplined Breakdown by Collective Soul
  • OK Computer by Radiohead
  • Violator by Depeche Mode
  • Out-of-State Plates by Fountains of Wayne
  • Shaking the Tree by Peter Gabriel
  • Monkey Business by The Black Eyed Peas
  • Lenny Kravitz Greatest Hits
  • Journey Greatest Hits
  • Kick and X by INXS

As you can see, my taste in music is very much like my thought processes–all over the place.
