Blah Monday

Song Lyric of the Day:

In the silence of your room / In the darkness of your dreams / You must only think of me / There can be no in-between / When your pride is on the floor / I’ll make you beg for more

Shakespear’s Sister / “Stay”

8:56PM.
I’m having a bitch of a time getting anyone to sign up for this year’s Relay for Life (June 22-23 at the World’s Fair site). I could swear I had more people on board the same time last year. I have several verbal commitments from most of the same people who participated last year, which is all well and good, but none of them can officially start fundraising efforts until they officially sign up. Sigh. At least Caren and Tamara are officially on board. This is really frustrating and disheartening for me, particularly since this year I’ve been asked to participate on the committee that organizes the event; I also had the privilege to meet a 17-year cancer survivor last week who asked me to write a letter detailing my experience with cancer (Mom’s a five-and-a-half year breast cancer survivor) and thanking the American Cancer Society staff for their tireless efforts. So my involvement is heading to the next level, but I can’t get anyone to sign up for the team. Go figure.

Should you wish to make a team contribution or join the team, click here; the $10 registration fee applies to the fundraising total. You can also make a donation on my personal donation page. If you’d like to contribute a letter detailing your own personal experience with cancer and thanking the ACS staff, please email me and I’ll give you contact information for my new friend the survivor. He’d be thrilled to get more letters to present to the staff.

At least I found a favorite old video/song of mine on YouTube, “Stay” by Shakespear’s Sister, to pick me up. Ah, takes me back to the good old days of 1992, when I listened to my cassette over and over and over again. I see a trip to McKay’s in the near future. I really need that album on CD.

10:56PM. I feel a little bit better. Indulged in one of my latest obsessions, “Robotron 2084on the XBox Live. Rich likes to point out that I use our kick-ass high-def gaming system to play an old school game from 1982. I’d like to point out that I’m awesome at it.
