Today’s the hubby‘s, birthday. He’s spending the day as he’d originally planned: playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends. We’re planning a party for him a couple of weekends from now due to some logistical issues with people being out of town. Tonight, though, I’ll make him the birthday dinner he requested: fried chicken and Caesar salad (I make the dressing from scratch); dinner will be followed by mandarin orange birthday cake, which he also requested I make. I imagine the leftover cake will make its way to work tomorrow to be shared with friends there.
I’m honored to be spending another birthday with my best friend and soulmate; we’ve both changed a lot over the years (most of it for the better) in no small part because of how we’ve allowed the other to influence and shape us without changing the essence of who we each are. The best example I can think of is how Rich is a bit more of a homebody now than when we first married and I’m far more social than I used to be; we enjoy going out by ourselves with friends (a la today) as well as getting together with friends whenever we can (a la our board game/Wii gaming session here at the house Friday night).
So here’s hoping my blue-eyed boy has a great birthday today.
And that he doesn’t mind me trying to blog throughout the Oscars tonight.
