Evidently the cast of Grey’s Anatomy is not happy that Kate Walsh‘s character, Addison Montgomery, was chosen for a spinoff. So to help ease their pain, I’ve come up with ideas for spinoffs for the other cast members.
The Yin of Yang
Cristina (Sandra Oh), left alone, widowed and ringless after Burke (Isaiah Washington) is tragically killed by a runaway float at Seattle’s Gay Pride Parade, moves back to Beverly Hills to start over. She rebuilds her relationship with her mother and starts to actually enjoy shopping trips and botox treatments with her, discovering that surgery isn’t the only cure for a broken heart.
Anatomically Correct Alex
After his attempt at a real, meaningful relationship with Addison goes up in flames, causing her to forever leave Seattle Grace (at least until/if her spinoff fails), Karev (Justin Chambers) decides women are more trouble than they’re worth and goes back to what he does best: casual sex. Expect a guest starring turn by the once-syphillis-afflicted Nurse Olivia as well as a stellar conquest-of-the-week guest star lineup. But not Izzie.
Hay to the Chief
Faced with the end of his marriage and having dyed his hair “for the ladies,” former Seattle Grace Chief of Surgery Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) moves to the country to start over. Vowing to leave medicine behind forever, he soon finds himself the beloved doctor in his small town’s clinic. His dye job pays off and he finds true love with his soulmate, a physician’s assistant named Agatha. They marry and have a daughter, whom they name Ellis.
Dizzie Izzie
Mourning her lost true love, Denny, but finally ready to move on, Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) moves clear across the country to New York City, where she soon finds herself saddled with a neurotic book editor for a roommate. Izzie switches to holistic medicine and has nightly conversations with Denny (special guest star Jeffrey Dean Morgan) thanks to her trusty ouija board. During a freak ouija transference incident during Aurora Borealis, Denny comes back to her, alive and corporeal. They marry and kick the roomate out.
…And McBaby Makes Three
Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) are faced with an unplanned pregnancy after Mer is thrown for a loop when the now-widowed Cristina moves away, causing Meredith to forget to take her birth control pill. For three weeks straight. After many fits and starts, McDreamy and Dr. Grey decide they’ll be happiest if they’re married. They get hitched and set about playing happy family. Meredith finally gets what her mother was talking about when her daughter turns out to be as whiny and indecisive as she is. McBaby grows up to be an accomplished member of her school’s swim team, though.
The George & Callie O’Malley Hour
Faced with numerous crises of conscious over whether his marriage to Callie (Sara Ramirez) was a mistake or not, George (T.R. Knight)’s neuroses makes every episode a Very Special Episode. Callie, while thrilled that George never reconciled with Izzie, is frustrated and turns to having internet sex with McSteamy (Eric Dane). She tells herself that because it’s online, it’s not technically cheating.
Nobody’s Nazi
After Chief of Surgery Webber’s retirement, the department is left to Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson). She more than steps up to the task, reducing mortality and morbidity rates to almost nothing. Whipping the surgery department into shape leads to Bailey being rewarded with increased responsibility, and soon she is running the entire hospital. Despite her busy schedule, she manages to find the time to have another healthy baby (a girl this time) and lead a happy, fulfilling life with her husband. Residents and interns now bow to Bailey out of respect and awe, not fear. She is the Nazi no more.
