A Bloody Good 1st Anniversary

Song Lyric of the Day:

The horses in the new forest are running in their Sunday best / And though you can’t believe your ears / They say the words you long to hear

Today was my first anniversary at work. I’m happy to say the two years I spent trying to get hired were worth it: I love my job, I work for a great company, I’ve made terrific friends, I’ve got
awesome bosses — I can’t complain. Getting to watch DVDs at my desk on days I stay in for lunch is also a nice perk (I’m working my way through Bones season one right now). And tomorrow I get to be in the audience for a webcast being filmed at HQ. Should be fun!

I’ve been trying to take more time for myself lately, which is a good thing. I’m usually operating at warp speed, and Rich is constantly after me to just sit down and do nothing. So in keeping with treating myself, I splurged this weekend and bought some Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner. It seemed like the thing to do since I got my hair hacked off on Saturday (it now barely touches my shoulders) and Trade Secret had those big 33-ounce bottles on sale (two for $25). Rich and I went to West Town Mall on Sunday to check out the new game store (Gameboard is now Nord’s Games). First, though, we hit Tweeter, which is going out of business; we wanted to check out their clearance sales since we’re pricing a new TV for our master bedroom. The TVs have the least percentage off right now (the store inventory is 15-40% off), so we plan on checking again in a few days. Speaking of good deals, the Apple store at West Town Mall is going tax-free this weekend (April 27-29), a good time for me to pick up Liquid Ledger, which I can use to balance our finances.

My photo kick continues unabated. I added a few dozen photos tonight to my Flickr albums.

One of the additions, taken during our recent seventh wedding anniversary getaway:

*Today’s blog post title refers to the fact that I donated blood at work today. I hate needles, but I figured I’d make this my good deed for the month.
