Home Away From Home

Song Lyric of the Day:

Our house it has a crowd / There’s always something happening / And it’s usually quite loud

Madness / “Our House

I’m bunking at my sister’s house for a few days. Don’t worry, everything on my homefront is good. It’s just that she, my bro-in-law, and my nephew are enjoying a family vacation. So yours truly got recruited to pet- and house-sit. Their dogs are about as crazy as my boys* Caleb and Troubadour are, only these three are quiet. It’s like watching my dogs play, only they’re bigger and on mute. Quite entertaining. (*My girl dog, Happy, is more of an observer. Like the ones on Fringe — she just stands quietly by, never judging, as her brothers find themselves in increasingly outlandish situations.)

I’m really tired and ready for bed and hope I will sleep well tonight. Because in addition to adapting to my niece/nephew pets climbing all over me and sleeping with me, this type of situation is exactly when every single horror movie (God, so many horror movies) about haunted houses, people trapped in houses, demon-possessed houses — you name it — that I’ve ever seen come back to bite me in the ass. I’m not really paranoid or anything, but even the smallest noises are making me jump.

Good thing I have a Mastiff and a gun at my disposal.
