Last Thursday when we picked up Coraline from daycare, she came running at me with this paper in her hand. “This is YOU, Mommy!” she exclaimed. This is the first time she’s ever drawn a real person, and I’m flattered she drew me and in my favorite color, no less. Out of all her amazing artwork, this is now my new favorite. It’s also one of the best portraits of me I’ve ever seen.
My parents gave Coraline a Dora the Explorer umbrella a while back, and it’s one of her favorite fashion accessories. As it is, she only posed willingly for this photo since she was wearing one of her “princess” dresses. (Taken 4/27/14)
“Look, Mommy! I look just like Rapunzel in the tower!”
“Coraline, look at me. Smile! Act natural. Natural.” Sigh.
Coraline dictated a letter to Santa. She also decided on the menu of chocolate chip cookies, which she helped make, and chocolate milk, because surely Santa would prefer chocolate over white milk.
No sooner did I get out my camera than my niece decided to channel her alter ego, Sabrina Fierce. She’s one tough little cookie. (Photo taken 12/8/13)
Coraline poses by our Christmas tree in the dress she chose for the holidays this year (12/8/13).
This is one of my favorite shots taken at the Huntsville Botanical Garden's Aquatic Garden this past weekend (photo taken 11/2/13). I could've stayed there all day photographing everything.
For Halloween 2013 Coraline went as Cinderella. Which is not surprising because lately she is all princess, all the time. This might now be my favorite new photo of her.
This bouquet was waiting for Coraline and I when we got home Monday night. With 100% certainty, Coraline declared, "It's from my godCaren mommy." She was right -- her godmother had indeed sent this beautiful bouquet and a lovely condolence note about the passing of Grandma Lee.
