Merry Christmas from Tennessee!

Song Lyric of the Day:

Oh the weather outside is frightful / But the fire is so delightful / And since we’ve no place to go / Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Sammy Cahn & Jule Styne / “Let It Snow”

10:10AM. It’s been a crazy few days since I’ve been able to update. Christmas was great this year. Not only has it been fun seeing everyone, but I made out like a bandit. But before I go any further, let me say CONGRATULATIONS to Kathy and Christian on the birth of their beautiful daughter, Kayce. She’s the best Christmas gift they could ever have hoped to receive.

Wednesday night, Rich and I had our own Christmas before we left Chesapeake for the holidays. We had a nice chef’s salad for dinner and a little wine. Then we tore into our gifts like little kids. Among other things, I gave him the Napoleon Dynamite DVD, a computer reference book, and a Barnes & Noble gift card. The big present was a JVC FS-H100 bookshelf stereo to replace his old, half-dead Aiwa stereo in our bedroom. He gave me a book on candlemaking, a book on weight training, and a book on how to win at gambling, which was really his roundabout way of saying that yes, he will go to Las Vegas with me someday. My big present was an awesome Canon printer, one that prints photographs straight from the computer, CDs, the camera, or memory cards. It also prints regular documents. The cats got new catnip-marinated mice in their stockings, a tub of catnip, a bowl, and a scratching post. Snoops and Caleb got peanut butter biscuits in their stockings, new marrow bones, a Wooly Man plush squeak toy, frisbees, and rawhide skates filled with treats. All in all, we had a great Christmas at home before setting out for Knoxville Thursday. I’ll update some more later in the day…
