Song Lyric of the Day:
I’m just a girl, living in captivity / Your rule of thumb / Makes me worry some
No Doubt / “Just a Girl”
Lost Recap Haiku (Pilot, Part 1)
Falling from the clear blue sky
One thousand miles off
Survivors on this strange isle
Lost Recap Haiku (Pilot, Part 2)
Polar bear in the jungle
Unexplainable
Distressing signals for help
Work today went in slow motion for some reason. At least today was the second of our four cubicle-hosted holiday feasts; my cube’s turn is Friday. I started eating around 8AM and kept on eating until right around 11:30AM. It’s a wonder I didn’t fall asleep after that. Or get sick.
I got some Christmas shopping done after work today–the finish line is within view. Let me just say, I’m really pleased with how well our pets have been behaving with regard to the Christmas tree and the presents under it. The presents have remained undisturbed and it’s been a few days since any ornaments have been knocked off. Granted, overnight Buster felt the need to place (arrange, actually) the pet Santa hats and a tiny stocking on the Christmas tree skirt, but the tree itself was untouched.
I’m really looking forward to going home next week. It’s going to be great to see everyone, and I’m really excited about the presents I’ve gotten everyone. Not to mention, they are all spectacularly wrapped. (I’ll try to post pics soon, Kathy!)
I know that we’re supposed to say that the joy is in giving, but I really love getting presents. Really, I’m a greedy, greedy witch. I actually even have a wish list I maintain year-round, for a few different reasons. The first is that whenever my family or friends want ideas for birthday and Christmas gifts, I just email them my list–very handy. The second is that since I collect hardcover books by my favorite authors, it helps me keep track of which titles I’m missing. Last, but not least, if for some reason I ever receive a financial windfall (hello, Lotto South!), I want to be prepared for my shopping spree. I suspect the excitement over coming into money (highly unlikely) would knock every thought out of my head, so I need to have it all written down just in case. Talk about being a Stupid Lit’l Dreamer.
As you can see from the haikus above, I ended up watching “Lost” tonight even though it was a repeat of the pilot and I’ve seen every episode of the series so far. Yes, it’s that good. It just sucked me in again, and I even caught a few things I hadn’t noticed the first time around. Now that’s good television.
I love giving gifts and the joy of gift giving, but I am like you and I LOVEEEEE to receive just as much! I guess we are just both greedy Puerto Rican witches!
