Here’s Hoping

Song Lyric of the Day:

And you’re such a charming, handsome man / Now I think I finally understand / Is it in your genes? I don’t know / But I’ll soon find out, that’s for sure

Well, last night I finally finished my audition tape for that WTKR contest. My cubemate, Bob, was nice enough to lend me his JVC DV camcorder. I had filmed some stuff a couple of nights ago, but I wasn’t crazy about it and basically had to start over again. Since I’ve never had to make an audition tape, I was pretty clueless as to what I should say/do to demonstrate why I’d be a good on-air personality. I ended up improvising a phone interview with Marg Helgenberger of “CSI” (WTKR is a CBS affiliate) that got cut short when my cell phone battery died. So to kill time, I talked about myself until Marg called me back on my home phone to tell me to stop calling her. I also included my scenes from “Diagnosis: Unknown” and “Interpol Investigates.” So hopefully I’ll make an impression. I couldn’t not give it a shot, you know? Besides, Bob and Lee have declared themselves the charter members of my fan club–Lee’s going to be my agent, you know.

After a restless night, ironically enough, during a sleep study, Rich was nice enough to drop my audition tape and letter off at the station’s office in Norfolk. See, good husband points galore!

I’m heading straight from work to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner with Nancy and Ann tonight, two close friends from my first job here. I’ve been poring over the huge menu to try and narrow down my choices. From what I’ve heard, the portions are huge, so I might have lunch tomorrow covered, as well.
