Die Hausfrau

Song Lyric of the Day:

If heaven and hell decide / That they both are satisfied / Illuminate the no’s on their vacancy signs

Death Cab for Cutie / “I Will Follow You Into the Dark”

3:11PM.
First things first–a very happy birthday to my friend, Catherine, back in Virginia Beach. For two days we will be the same age. That is, until my birthday on Saturday when I inch ever so closer to old womanhood.

This week is going by very quickly so far. I’ve stayed busy every day running errands, handling correspondence, and making phone calls. I even managed to finally get the Xterra’s oil changed this morning. Tuesday night I managed to make a caesar salad for dinner–from scratch. I even added grilled chicken to it. I looked up a recipe on iVillage and it passed the ultimate test–Rich loved it. He’s something of a caesar salad connoisseur, so I was on pins and needles until he hummed his first “mmmm, mmmm.” We did both agree, though, that next time I use the recipe I will not use the whole recommended dijon mustard amount. It was just a smidgen too much. Last night I made a hearty, spicy beef stew with Puerto Rican red rice and beans. I learned how to make the beef stew from Dad, the rice and beans from Mom. Rich said I’m spoiling him by having dinner ready or cooking when he gets home from work. Tonight, though, I think we’re having leftovers from last night.

If I didn’t have to worry about earning an income, I could get used to being a housewife. Not that I think I could handle being at home every day; at least errands get me out of the house. It’s not as if I live on Wisteria Lane, where all sorts of interesting things happen.

I’m glad you enjoyed Dooce -she is so demented. lol.

I’m sure I’m going to be a regular reader of Greek Tragedy now. She has already inspired me to add a few things to my site – like the 100 things from me, dad, mom, etc. Mine will prob not be as graphic though. lol.

I’m glad to here the “kids” are adjusting to their new abode. I know our cats would LOVE floor to ceiling windows.

I think when I do my list about me it’s going to have several duplicate items from Stephanie’s list. Which is why I added her link to my site in the first place–I think we have a lot in common. I’m with you, though, in that certain things I just won’t post on my blog.

My cats highly recommend large windows to your cats. 🙂
